The Cleveland Cavaliers team of Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley beat rookies Cade Cunningham, Josh Giddy and Scotty Barnes in the skills competition.

In the final round, which was decided by shots from the center of the court, the winners had just two attempts and 5.5 seconds to score from the center. The freshman team did it in 9.9 seconds.

The skills competition consisted of shooting, passing, dribbling, and center shots.

Skills Competition:

In the slam dunk contest, New York forward Obi Topping beat Golden State’s Juan Toscano-Anderson in the finals, scoring from above with a pass between his legs and a shot off the backboard. No dunk in this year’s contest received a 50-point score.
Toppin’s final round score was 92 points (45+47). Toscano-Anderson received only 69 (39+30).

Slam Dunk Contest:

Minnesota center Karl-Anthony Towns won the three-point contest. He became the first big man since Kevin Love (2012) to win the three-point contest.
Towns scored 29 points in the final round, beating guards Luke Kennard and Trey Young (both 26). The Minnesota center broke Devin Booker’s record of 28 points in the finals, set four years ago in Los Angeles.
Patrick Mills (Brooklyn), Fred Vanvliet (Toronto), Zach LaVine (Chicago), Desmond Bain (Memphis) and C.J. McCollum (New Orleans) also participated.

Veterans of the Spanish national basketball team, brothers Pau and Marc Gasol announced the end of their careers with the national team.

Pau made it after the Spaniards’ loss to the United States in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics (81:93). Following his brother, Mark made the same announcement.

Pau, 41, was undecided whether to continue playing at the club level, while Mark, 36, will spend next season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Pau and Marc Gasoli are two-time Olympic silver medalists (2008, 2012), world champions (2006) and two-time European champions (2009, 2011).
